Mauritania, officially known as the Islamic republic of Mauritania is a country situated in north-west of Africa. It is bordered by Atlantic Ocean on the west, Senegal and Mali on the south, Mali on the east and Morocco controlled western Sahara and Algeria on the North.
It is named after the Roman province of Mauretania though the modern state is situated far to the south west of the old province.
