Nigeria, a federal republic

Nigeria is a federal republic modelled after the United States, with executive power exercised by the president and with overtones of the Westminister system model in the composition and management of the upper and lower houses of the bicameral legislature. the current president is elected by popular vote to a maximum of two four year terms. The prsident's power is checked by a senate anfd a house of Natinal assembly. The senate is a 109-seat bodywith three members from each stateand one from the capitalregion of Abuja, members are elected by popular voteto four year terms. the house contains 360 seats an the number of seats are determined by its population.
Corruption is a major challenge to nigeria as in other African countries.
