Sudan, Hassan al-Turabi (contd-9)

Sudanese opposition parties and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) signed on Thursday a declaration discussed in Juba last month calling for democratic transition in the country.

In a four day meeting hosted by the SPLM in Juba last Sep., over twenty Sudanese parties warned they would boycott the general election scheduled to take place in April next year if the Sudanese parliament does not pass, before november 30, a number
of laws aiming at creating an appropriate invironment for the multiparty election.
Leaders from 28 political parties formally signed Juba declaration for dialogue and National consensus at the Friendship Hall in khartoum in presence of former Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi, who is the leader of Umma party and Hassan Al-Turabi, the leader of Popular Congress party, Dr. Riek Machar GOSS Vice-President and SLPM deputy Chairman represented his party besides Pagan Amum.

Secretary General Pagan Amum accompanied by deputy of SPLM, Yasir Said Arman, Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth SPLM National Liberation Councilmember and Head of Mission of the Govt. to USA and Choul Pal Gai Sp. aide to Secretarygeneral visited Chad on 26th Oct. -30th Oct.
