Balochistan is the largest province in Pakistan constituting about 43% of the total area of Pakistan.According to 1998 census it had a population of roughly 6.5 million. It is one of the poorest province of Pakistan.
The Capital, Quetta, is located in the most densely populated district in the north east of the province. It is situated  in a river valley near the border with Afghanistan, with a road to Kandahar in the North West .
Balochi represents 54.8% of its population.The earliest known farming settlements in Indus Valley Civilization was Mehrgarh dated 6500 BCE.
